Stonegate Gardens, Denver, since 2001

Garden design for the way you live.

Stonegate Gardens designs, builds and cares for gardens across Denver. Owner and designer Leslie Ebert founded the company in 2001, and her crews care for the gardens long after they go in. Two of her designs won 2010 Excellence in Landscaping Awards from the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado.

Garden care

Kept the way it was designed.

Stonegate looks after the gardens it builds, and existing gardens too. Crews work a monthly schedule and look for anything out of the ordinary: branches broken in a windstorm, aphids on the foliage, a dry spot from a broken sprinkler head. A supervisor checks each property routinely.

  • Weeding, mulching and pruning
  • Fertilizing, watering and deadheading
  • Seasonal annuals and signature planters
  • Spring bulbs and pansies
  • Fall clean-up
  • Snow plowing and hand shoveling

Stonegate is a 100 percent organic company and uses no pesticides or chemicals.

Garden care in detail

Same gardens, years later.

Because Stonegate keeps caring for what it builds, its photographs follow the same gardens for years. These pairs are from Stonegate’s own project files.

How a project runs

From the start, we ask questions.

What colors, textures and styles are on your wish list? Will children be running through the garden? Is a water feature, a patio or a bench part of the picture? Is the space for relaxing, for entertaining, or for bringing an old landscape back to life?

Clients who stay for years.

Some have worked with Stonegate since the company began. These are their words.

More from clients

“I have used Stonegate Gardens since their inception as Leslie Ebert was highly recommended to me. Leslie considers the long-term plant maintenance when creating a new garden design. Her expert advice has saved me thousands of dollars from having to replace poor plant selections from other garden designers who were only interested in the first year appearance of a garden.”

Leslie Wilson, Highlands Ranch

“Leslie created an innovative design for our tight and challenging spaces that transformed our yards into stylish and comfortable garden living areas.”

Gil and Valerie Clausen

“I find Stonegate reliable, friendly, always show up when they are supposed to and our yard, front and back always looks wonderful.”

The designer

A garden designer who started as an artist.

A Colorado native, Leslie studied art and graphic design at the University of Southern Colorado, where her illustrations won awards. A summer job with a Denver landscaping company turned into five years in the field, and in 2001 she started Stonegate Gardens.

She still takes a hands-on approach to every design, works in the field with her crews and photographs the gardens herself. She drew the hares in the Stonegate emblem, too.

About Leslie and the press

Questions people ask before they call.

Straight answers on fees, timing and how Stonegate works. Anything else, Leslie will answer by phone or text.

How much does garden design cost?
Design fees are set by the size of the project and run from $85 for a small job to $3,000 for a large one. Consultations for ongoing projects, or for ideas on an existing yard, are $85 an hour. The first consultation for a new project is free: call or text 303-885-0054.
Do you build the gardens you design?
Yes. Stonegate designs, installs and maintains, so one team carries the plan from sketch to finished garden. Most hardscape installations take one to two weeks, depending on when materials are available.
Can a water-wise garden look full instead of sparse?
That is the goal of every Stonegate xeriscape. Drought-tolerant perennials, shrubs and trees are layered for color and texture through the seasons, so the yard uses less water without looking sparse.
Do you use pesticides or chemicals?
No. Stonegate is a 100 percent organic company. Crews also send plant containers and annual flats back to wholesalers for reuse and run electric blowers where they can.
Where do you work?
Across Denver and the metro area. Gardens on this site are in City Park West, Washington Park, the Country Club area, Lowry, Cherry Creek and Heritage Hills, and long-time clients write in from Highlands Ranch, the Denver Tech Center, Observatory Park and Parker. Commercial properties too.
Do you remove snow?
Yes, for homes, businesses and homeowners associations. Crews plow large paved areas, hand-shovel sidewalks, driveways, ramps and the space around fire hydrants, and use plastic shovels on stamped concrete so the finish is not scratched.
